july / 10 months old!

10 months old!

July has been a fun, hectic month!  Happy birthday, America, and happy 10 months, littlest H!

We started the month out with a bang, literally, celebrating the 4th of July.  It was great to have Daddy home from work for the holiday weekend, and we kicked off the celebration early with a carnival on July 3.  It was Harper and Hunter's very first carnival, which was exciting, on perhaps one of the hottest nights ever.  But we had a blast!  Harper played a couple of games, and then we all went on the merry-go-round.  Harper wasn't thrilled about getting on her horse (even though it was a fake horse), but she ended up having so much fun!  Hunter, on the other hand, did not love going around and around; as soon as we got off the ride, he threw up on me (sigh).  We had delicious--if not nutritious--carnival food for dinner, and then ended the night on a high note with Harper and Daddy's trip down the steepest slide we have ever seen.  Here is a glimpse of our fun evening as a story in pictures:

The actual 4th of July was a little anticlimactic after all the excitement the night before.  The day was cool and pouring rain, but we tried to take advantage of the weather and have a nice, laid back day.  In the afternoon, we were supposed to attend a BBQ at a friend's house in their backyard, but it was moved indoors.  In spite of the rain, we had a great time.

The absolutely beautiful weather the following day totally made up for the rain on the 4th, and we headed downtown to meet our friends to ride the Swan Boats and splash in the water at Frog Pond on the Boston Common.  It couldn't have been a more perfect afternoon in our perfect city.  In the immortal words of The Standells, We love that dirty water--Boston you're our home.  Living in this city can be such a dream sometimes.

Our month started out fun and carefree, and then the weeks following were super busy and crazy.  Not only were we counting down to our vacation with Dallin's family in the Outer Banks, we have been simultaneously counting down for a very special wedding: Harper and Hunter's Uncle Ben will be getting married to the lovely Aunt Vivi in just a few days!  So there has been a lot to accomplish and plenty of items to cross off our to-do list in preparation for these fun events.  Of course, all work and no play is just no fun…  Plus, we simply don't have the attention span for that.  So here's what we have been doing when we need a break:

Learning our letters

Double trouble at the grocery store

Fashion show: bib couture

Who needs milk?
Hunter's first personalized Diet Coke

Little yoga

Downward Facing Dog

This little fashionista dressed herself

Stay tuned for the full report on our amazing vacation and what's sure to be amazing wedding weekend!
