6 months old!

6 months old!

This month, Hunter turned 6 months old!  It feels like a huge milestone, our little boy now half way through his first year.  Per usual, we celebrated with a visit to the pediatrician.  Hunter received a clean bill of health, which was unfortunately accompanied by 5 vaccinations (2 shots in each leg and one oral vaccine) that Hunter braved like the little trooper that he is.  Hunter now measures 29 inches long and weighs 20 lbs. 8.5 oz.  This puts him firmly in the 100th percentile for height and the 91st percentile for weight.  He is long and lean, just like his Daddy.

Story time with big sister
Some of Hunter's favorite things right now are: playing in his activity chair, laughing with his big sister, grabbing everything in sight, drinking milk, and practicing sitting up.

What he's on the fence about: trying new foods.  So far, he has tasted carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, apple sauce, peaches, bananas, and cereal. His favorite food right now is definitely cereal, possibly because it's mixed with milk; the rest he reluctantly eats.  Mostly he just doesn't love the spoon, but hopefully he will come around.

Who need nap time anyway?
Apparently not this guy...
Hunter's dislikes: NAPPING.  Sigh.  Just as we did with Harper, we are seriously struggling with Hunter's naps.  He used to sleep consistently in his swing, but even that is no longer working.  We've tried the "cry it out" method, we have tried cozying him in his bed and  then tip-toeing out of his room like a prisoner making their escape... Nothing works!  At Hunter's doctor's appointment, I all but begged for a referral to the sleep specialist that helped us with Harper, but Hunter's pediatrician felt that it wasn't necessary (yet).  She explained that, as he becomes more physically active over the next few months, he should begin napping with more regularity.  So we will continue to work with our little man and to hope and pray that he will realize how amazing naps are!

Even though he doesn't sleep very well, Hunter is the little ray of sunshine in all of our lives.  His smile and laugh are absolutely infectious.  We can't wait to see what the next six months will bring!
